Watch Dunks Videos – “Like” your favorites

Andy Nicholson tracks his dunking jumping progress from day one on his blog.

Andy has been contacting me and coming to coaching sessions fro the very beginning.  It’s been fun to watch him go from barely touching the rim to dunking a basketball.

This dunk blew out my Koby’s during warm ups.  Literally had to stop dunking before I busted an ankle.  Kobys are great shoes though, so got some more already.

Ok… this is just down right sick.  Don’t want to jump any higher than this or we could see some serious injuries.   We are going to see a lot more head injury style dunks in the future from athletes training with the best technologies and techniques science has to offer.

Some pretty sick dunks in this contest.  Pretty amazing how the dunk world is evolving.  It seems the amazing dunks we used to see are now so much more common place.

Check out how these high school kids are doing the dunks that win the NBA and college dunk contests.

Personally I’m most impressed by jump height than I am by trick dunks and skillful dunks. I’d much rather see a monster jam than a smooth but low flying BTL.

This is a dunk mix from this month.  Most are just simple lob dunks and nothing to tricky.

This is a 10 foot rim at a local German school in Addis Ababa.

We are leaving for Egypt next week so hopefully I can continue my jump training there and also find a good rim / gym.

This rim was a bit fragile so I couldn’t hang or dunk too hard on it.

This is an oldy but some people really like this little vid.  Horrible quality though!

Story is…I was rehabbing several years ago and several guys told me it was impossible to dunk the length of that pool. I told them I think I could. They swore it was impossible and tons of people had tried it for years. They swore there was “No way dude.”

They had a camera phone so I asked them to take it out so I could keep the footage.

He ended up getting himself a copy of The Jump manual.

Old dunk on a 10 foot rim. I’m posting this for a friend who stuck up for me several times when it was unpopular.

I’ve had this and many other vids for a long time but I haven’t posted them. Many have said I can’t dunk or can’t jump and many of you have stuck up for me, because you have seen my videos in coaching sessions.

Particularly my friend Brandon AKA Cloud, who has seen them and everyone called him (and me a liar). Thanks to anyone who sticks up for me and The Jump Manual when haters come a callin’! I know there is more than just him…so thanks to all!

Currently working on beating my old best dunks and jumping higher then I ever have. The goal is 45 inches to beat my old best.

Sprite Slam Dunk Contest vs NBA Dunk Contest?

I’m curious if you think the sprite slam dunk contest (non NBA) is more competitive or more spectacular than the NBA contest?  This year I must admit… the NBA contest was MUCH better than last year.  The young athletic guys really came out with some creativity.

Dunk contest winners… according to you?

Some people think  (I won’t spoil it) that the winner should have been someone else.  Who do you think should have won and why?

What is the future of dunk contests?

We’ve seen the popularity of dunking and dunk contests really explode in the past 5 years.  YouTube has taken dunking to an entirely new level… they’ve even had their own dunk contest! In fact almost every dunk in the NBA dunk contest we have seen online before… including the dunking over a car, but perhaps not the double dunk with two hoops… Enjoy the dunks and hit me up with your feedback.

Wasn’t it Martin Luther King that first said "I have a dream of little white and black kids throwin’ up dunk mixes on the playground together?"  Well… here it is!

Since I broke the backboard yesterday, I figured I’d post some other backboard breaking dunks.  This is evidently Lebron breaking the board on a hard 2 handed slam dunk.

His fall looks pretty painful.  I was lucky enough to bring it down on impact before I was able to hang, so didn’t get the fall on your back affect.

Question? – Best backboard breaking dunk?

I’ll have to go with "Chocolate Thunder" – man could hammer.
