I??m going to tell you how to jump higher using squat jumps. I??m probably going to get some flack from some people because whenever I talk about heavier squat jumps people always say it??s dangerous. This is a matter of good form and preparing for heavier weights and greater eccentric loads. If done correctly, squat jumps will help you jump higher.

Train Your Body How to Jump Higher

In order to train my body to jump higher, I have tethered up my squats with some band resistance. I am a big fan of elastic resistance. Elastic resistance allows you to get progressive resistance, which means as you move through the range of motion the weight gets harder, not easier, because of inertia.

So the further through the range of motion the harder you have to push, which is great for learning how to jump higher. Also the eccentric speed is just flat out different, meaning it??s faster. So you??re going to have to stabilize the load eccentrically much faster than you would deadweight. This helps train your body??s muscles to to jump higher.

Learn How to Jump Higher With the Right Techniques

Lastly, squat jumps are amazing for teaching your body how to jump higher. They teach you to stabilize and explode off the ground with greater power and force and increase velocity right off the ground. This gets the power behind your body needed to jump higher.
