Check out this insane box jump.

There’s this YouTube video of a dude box-jumping like crazy and it was pretty impressive but sometimes we think that we don’t fully understand how high guys are jumping; when they jump on top of something.

Because we see how high that thing is or how high this jumps over and it looks like they got a crazy vert and they do a lot of times but maybe not as big as we think and this guy has an amazing vertical. Let’s check it out. Check this guy out, man and see how tall he is and how high he’s jumping. Look at that, that’s pretty fantastic.

So I would judge this guy to be about 6-foot tall and I don’t know if that’s generous, its kind a hard to tell the way he’s got his knickers on. That doesn’t actually change anything. So look, he’s about 6 feet tall. The taller he make the better his jump is. We can see he is jumping to about the top of his head.

So that’s about nearly a 6-foot height. Now on the video I think he shows it and I do believe it. It might be actually under 6-foot. But let’s just give him the benefit of the doubt. So this jump, as you can see, is about half of his height. Coz you see his hips, they start right here and then he jumps all the way to the top of his head, from the side view.

So, if he’s 6-foot tall and he jumps with a half his height that means that he’s 3-foot or 36-inch jump and a 36-inch standing jump is very good. What else is pretty impressive is this: look at how he can tuck man. When he’s up there, he’s right there between his legs. His hip’s flexibility is very impressive and so that’s not something to be overlooked as well. So what’s the point of this video? Well, the point of this video is a lot of people see this and they think, Holy Shrimp!

This guy has got the craziest vert in the world. But at a closer look, we see he has an excellent vertical and also excellent box-jumping technique which is not a small feat. But we should also understand that being able to jump on a higher box doesn’t always mean that you are an amazing vertical leaper. In this guy’s case, he does have an outstanding vertical leap but also your technique of being able to jump onto the box, as you can see, he’s got his legs above his hips even to power himself onto the box. So anyways, this is by no means diminishing this guy’s feat.

Standing vertical leap of 36 inches is nothing to bucket. Just want to let everybody understand what’s actually going on here because a lot of people think when they can jump on higher and higher box sides it means their vertical is necessarily increasing. And it is increasing but perhaps your box jumping form is also increasing, which is also a good thing.
