After Sports Training, Should I be Sore? What Does Muscle Soreness Mean?

imageI often get asked about muscle soreness, if it’s good or bad, and what it means about your sports training and the condition of your body.

This brief video should clarify what it is.

In short, muscle soreness tells our body that "unfamiliar" muscle damage has taken place.

Note – You can still get stronger and have a good workout even when you don’t get sore.

Once your body is used to a certain pattern of muscle damage and recovery DOMS can lessen or go away completely, but this does not mean that you are not getting stronger.

There are ways to lessen DOMS including increasing blood flow, foam rolling, stretching, icing, NSAIDs etc…

But that’s not the focus of this video… I can take questions or comments separately to go over those issues.
