Are you serious about your vertical jump training? You
must be or you wouldn’t be receiving this email. Think
about this:
Correct training to increase your vertical jump is very
COUNTER INTUITIVE.
Why?
Vertical jumping is an explosion caused by the intense
contraction of fast twitch muscle fibers. Otherwise
vertical jump training is “anaerobic.” Too many athletes
are training in a way that trains mostly their “aerobic”
endurance.
What is the difference in training?
In College I was told that running cross country would
increase my vertical. Boy was that a huge mistake. I
trained with the cross country team in the off season.
When basketball season rolled around my vertical had
successfully plummeted.

Sprinting, like jumping is much less aerobic event. do you
see sprinters running the 2 mile run to train for sprinting?
NEVER! Then why do so many vertical jump programs have us
PACING ourselves during our vertical jump training regimes?
NEVER NEVER NEVER PACE YOURSELF FOR TRAINING YOUR VERTICAL
EXPLOSION!
You have seen it before. Athletes running up and down
stairs. Athletes dog tired doing speed ladder drills.
They are not training at max explosion so they are not
training their max explosion.
You get done jumping rope for 20 minutes and your legs are
going to be so tired.. you are going to say to yourself,
“Now that was tough, surely that will increase my
vertical.” I guarantee you, you will be disappointed.
Unless you to train explosion and not endurance.
Training your explosion will feel awkward at first. You
wont get the same burn as training your endurance. In some
ways training explosion is easier, although it requires much
more focus and short term effort and energy.
99% of all athletes reading this right now will benefit
incredibly by training decreasing repetition and increasing
intensity.
